Meet our Psychologists: Dr. Susan L. Lambert, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Dr. Susan Lambert is originally from Thornhill, Ontario and has been a licensed psychologist since 2010. She conducted her undergraduate studies in Psychology at Huron College at The University of Western Ontario. She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. at York University, specializing in Clinical Development Psychology. Dr. Lambert also completed an internship in Child and Adolescent Psychology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Dr. Lambert’s training has involved working in various inpatient and outpatient hospital and community-based clinics, as well as school boards. She has also had the opportunity to work in Specialty clinics, such as those focused on gender identity, fire interest, trauma and abuse, and foster care. Her Ph.D. dissertation explored the role of body image in boys struggling with their gender identity.

At CBT Associates…

Dr. Lambert began working at CBT Associates as a child and adolescent psychologist in May 2015. Her current focus is on mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment issues, attention and learning difficulties, trauma, parenting, and family therapy. Dr. Lambert uses evidence-based techniques to guide her approach to assessment and treatment, while also taking into consideration and being sensitive to the unique needs of her clients. She is passionate about delivering quality care with the hope of improving the lives of children, adolescents, and their families.

Dr. Susan Lambert has always wanted to work with children. She believes that children are incredibly resilient and also fun! She enjoys engaging with them, validating their experiences, and supporting them as they navigate school, family and friendships. She is interested in the factors that interfere with good mental health and believes in the importance of working together with children and their families to support change. More generally, Dr. Lambert is interested in identifying and understanding the thoughts, feelings and behaviours children and adolescents experience in order to help them overcome the difficulties they face.

In Dr. Lambert’s spare time…

Dr. Lambert enjoys baking and finding ways to make delicious desserts that are also gluten-free. She loves to ski in the winter and go for long walks or hikes when the weather is nice. She also loves all the culture that Toronto offers and tries to see the latest musicals when she can. Her favorite pastime is travelling the world and experiencing different cultures. When asked about the best places she has traveled to, she lists Colombia, South Africa, Thailand and Croatia as some of her all-time favourites. She also loves New York City, which is less exotic, but equally magical!
